๐ Paras 1-3
This case originated from a writ petition seeking payment of wages and dues to workmen of Jaipur Udyog Ltd. (JUL) and its units. The company, JUL, was declared sick in 1987. A rehabilitation scheme proposed by Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd. (GDCL) was sanctioned in 1992 but failed. Various legal proceedings ensued, including challenges to winding-up recommendations, appeals before the Appellate Authority for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (AAIFR), and settlements with workmen. GDCL's conduct, including alleged unauthorized sale of assets and changes in shareholding patterns of JUL's subsidiary, JAIL, was scrutinized. A contempt petition was also filed alleging violation of court orders.
