The appellants are sons of late Thimmadasappa. Thimmadasappa sold property in Sy. No. 1/4 via registered sale deeds in 1971 and 1972 to Venkatappa, who then sold it to the plaintiff (respondent) in 1973. Separately, Sy. No. 162, belonging to a temple, was re-granted to Thimmadasappa in 1982. In 1997, a rectification deed was executed between the fourth defendant (Venkatappa) and the plaintiff, changing the survey number in the 1973 sale deed from Sy. No. 1/4 to Sy. No. 162. In 2005, Thimmadasappa partitioned Sy. No. 162 between the appellants.
